Training time this week is Wednesday 5.45pm - 7.30pm at the Memorial hall

Volunteers for PFA meetings

As part of the club's agreement to play at the Memorial Hall playing field in Hykeham we have to nominate three club members who would be willing to sit on the PFA (Playing Fields Association) comittee.

All this simply involves is attending one meeting usually the first Monday in each month (7.45pm -9.00pm) to represent the club and take note of anything that may affect us using the ground. This could for example mean reporting that we were unable to access the nets room or there was no lime in the store for marking the pitch out, nothing too strenuous. It is simply means that that the club has a voice to getting things sorted and you are more than welcome to have a cheap pint if needs be.

At the moment I am the only rep from the club but I am unable to attend every meeting due to work commitments and the PFA have written to us complaining that we are not attending the meetings as our agreement states. Therefore if anyone is able to help out this would be greatly appreciated and would only mean attending one meeting every 3 months if the sttendances were shared.

Anyone able to help out on this matter please have a word at our next match or training session,

Due to squad size and injuries I have made a number of changes this week so in light of this please try to understand these changes. Also I have recieved a memo from Lincs FA to say that all items of jewellery must be removed by players in all matches. This includes the removal of wedding rings which you were previously allowed to tape up, the FA have stated this is no longer acceptable. If you are worried about the security of such items then I suggest you leave these at home on Sunday mornings.

Your requested commitment to the club

Match day times; Players are asked to arrive at the ground by 10.00am (home games) to help put nets up and 10.15am (away games) at the latest, after this time a place in the starting line up cannot be guaranteed.

Subs: Match subs are £3.00 for each fixture unless stated.

Bookings: Players are reminded that they are to meet any fines through referee’s bookings.

Social Club Fee: All club members are to join the Memorial Hall Social Club at a one off fee of £3 for the year. This fee enable access the club house facilities after every home game, anytime during week and at our other events.

Availability: If you are unavailable for any of the fixtures please inform either Ian or Nick the week before the match or as soon as possible. Also note that dates currently detailed to be confirmed (TBC) are often left open for cup fixtures or other re arranged fixtures so please check with your team mates if we have a game or not before assuming there is no fixture.

Team Kit Wash: Everyone is to take two turns at washing half the kit (i.e. all the shirts or the socks and shorts). If the team cannot agree to take this on and it is obviously unfair on the same individuals washing the kit after each game, then we will arrange a laundry wash which may mean a rise in subs to cover this expense. No extra hot washes that knacker the kit please!

Returning your Kit: If you cannot make a fixture please ensure your kit is returned to us!! We have lost several kits over the last few seasons through some players selfishly, failing to return their kit, so if you can’t play make sure you get it to us or someone can collect it otherwise Nick will hunt you down with his pack of dogs!! .

Also, following his recent successful hip operation, Nick Jones is selling his trusty mobility chair prior to the forth coming season. A rejuvenated Nick says 'my new hip should offer me improved manoevourability in my mid-field role this season although I shall be sad to see my old chair go.' As the new season looms it would be great if a good home for this useful old-timer's, footballing accessory could be found.

Trophies for Bailgate's 'Player of the Season' and 'Players' Player of the Season' will be presented at our end of season get together at the Memorial Hall, Hykeham on Saturday 13th May meeting at the club at 7.00pm and later for more beers in town.


Also, as you may be aware I have decided to step aside the management role for next season and so we are looking for someone who maybe interested in managing the club for the 2006/7 season. I have said that I will gladly assist anybody who wants to take over the running of the club to ensure the club hopefully gets off to a successful start next season but due to work and home commitments, I don't feel I would be able to devote as much of my time to Bailgate Athletic as I would like.

Nick, Cobbie and I are therefore calling a meeting on Wednesday 17th June at 7.30pm, Hykeham Memorial Hall to discuss the board (ie. Secretary, Treasurer and Chairman roles) and would like to welcome anyone who is interested in becoming more involved in the running of the club.

If you would like to know more about what would be involved in managing the team then please either give me a call, come to the meeting or just have a word on Saturday night.

Hope you can all make the beers and trophy night Saturday, if not then my sincere thanks for your support throughout the last season and hopefully you will be back for more in September!!

Training has been suspended on Wednesday evenings until further notice due the poor condition on the field.

My apologies to the players who were on the bench last week and have not at this stage made the team for this weeks game.I anticipate the Plough game to be just as tough if not harder than the Swan game so I am considering a similar line up for Sunday. As I mentioned, competion for places is now gaining momentum so I can only ask that the players out for this week try to remain committed to the club but consider the selection against our current run of form.

I am sure everyone at the club would like to wish Rob Jays all the best as he leaves Bailgate to live & play his football in Nottingham. As you may be aware he played his last game for Bailgate with a solid performance against the Swan last week.

Just a reminder that training is now on every Wednesday from 7.30 til 8.30 and everyone is expected to make the effort to come down. Disappointing to see that half of the players named in the squad for this week did not attend training*. Attendance at training will have a bearing on team selection.

Also, just because you may have been 'rotated'and left out of the squad the previous week does not go to say you will not make the team the following week (assuming you make training) as I mentioned on Sunday squad rotation is now taking place to give everyone the oppurtunity.
